How to not get burned booking tours
Book on the big platforms, not the hotel lobby. Hotel tour desks and street agencies resell the same products with a markup and no free cancellation. GetYourGuide, Klook and Viator list the operator, the review count, and cancel-to-24-hours terms — that combination is your protection, use it.
Never book from anyone who approached you first. Bangkok's oldest scam is a friendly stranger near a temple announcing it's closed, followed by a cheap tuk-tuk 'city tour' that ends at a gem shop or a tailor. The Grand Palace is never closed unannounced. The one-sentence vaccine: ignore anyone who starts the conversation near an attraction.
Buy direct where direct is cheaper. Grand Palace tickets are gate-sales only at ฿500 (~$15) — every online 'skip-the-line' version is a reseller marking that up. Muay thai at Rajadamnern runs ฿1,000 third class to ฿2,500 ringside direct; the platforms are fine, stadium touts are not. And a free-cancellation tour costs nothing to lock in now and rethink later — the correct default in rainy season.

Anything sold as 'skip-the-line Grand Palace entry' is a reseller marking up the same gate ticket.
Is it cheaper to book tours once you're in Bangkok?
Usually the opposite. Hotel desks and street agencies resell the platform products with a margin, and the tuk-tuk 'tour' pipeline exists to deliver you to commission-paying gem and tailor shops. Online prices are transparent, reviews are attached, and free cancellation means booking early carries no risk.

Are the prices in this table per person?
Yes — 'from' rates for the cheapest standard adult slot, usually excluding entrance fees unless stated (the three-temple walk, for instance, excludes the ฿500 palace ticket). The exception to shop carefully is the longtail canal boat: charters price per boat at roughly ฿1,000–1,500 an hour, which gets cheap fast for groups.
